Champ Bailey "best corner of the decade" and we let him go!

Showtime's Inside the NFL is creating a Team of the Aughts. Basically the team of this decade. Warren Sapp, Phil Sims and Chris Collinsworth picked Champ to be the best CB of the decade over Ronde Barber, Ty Law, Troy Vincent and Charles Woodson. He has gotten 55% of the votes on the website as well.

So if you're the redskins and your record shows you rarely if ever draft good players but for a change you end up with a sure shot  who, even at the time, was being touted as the best corner of his class. He lives up to the hype by going to the pro bowl 4 times. Not once, not twice, but four freaking times in his first five years and what do they do? They trade the guy.

Can anyone tell, I still havn't recovered from this trade.

I just created a poll on the side bar. What do you think about the CP/Bailey trade?

Hmm not sure about best of the decade

Champ Bailey's a great number one corner but he's not the best corner of the decade. Charles Woodson anyone? Asante Samuel, Antoinne winnfield even. They have all been consistently as good or better than Champ.

Bailey gets burned once a game (sometimes at key points of the game like when he was with the skins). That's a great average for the top cornerback of any team to have but that's not a shut down corner. People will still throw his way.

Regarding the trade, I think both teams got what they paid for which can't be said of a lot of Dan Snyder's moves in the last decade.

Completely Disagree

Remember the last few years Charles Woodson had with Oakland??? Asante Samuel (same guy who was deemed replacable by the Patriots)...Antonio Winfield (is pretty good...but not even on the same plane as Champ...does not have his play making abilities and natural talent). Champ has played in high level (3 times all pro first team & 3 times all pro second team) for the last decade...the only guy that I think can compare to that level of excellence is Nnamdi Asomugha.
